We inspire today’s girls to become tomorrow’s STEM stars through the power of role models.
Through partnerships with organizations we bring our members directly to girls at no cost to them. From classrooms and camps to virtual events and social media, we create life-changing encounters with role models at the very moment when girls are making decisions about their futures.
Our goal is to grow our outreach to over 250,000 girls across all 50 states!

As a 100% volunteer-led nonprofit, nearly every dollar we raise goes directly to outreach which covers traveling to events with hundreds of girls, producing digital inspiration through our website and social media, and building new partnerships.

No other organization focuses on K-12 girls to provide free access to inspiring, world-class STEM role models on this scale. Over the past five years, we’ve already reached more than 25,000 girls through 17 nonprofit partnerships and we’re just getting started.
Founded in 2019 by five female astronauts, AstraFemina has grown our membership and our partnerships each year. Today, our member ranks include women leading in autonomous vehicles, genome analysis, biomedical and chemical engineering, energy, marine biology, meteorology, robotics, software entrepreneurship, and beyond. Our Partners, including USA Girl Scouts and AAUW Tech Trek, are leading innovators in providing inspirational, STEM-oriented opportunities for young audiences to meet our inspiring members!
Currently, only 27% of U.S. STEM workers are women. At the same time, thousands of STEM jobs go unfilled each year. That gap represents lost potential; both for the girls who never see themselves in these careers and for our society, which urgently needs their creativity and talent. That must change.
STEM careers offer women the opportunity to participate in the most exciting realms of discovery and innovation that shape our future and invigorate our national workforce. By sharing our stories as women in STEM, we provide concrete examples of what a STEM career could look like and how it is possible to change the world by believing in yourself and your technical abilities. Our stories show girls what is possible as we encourage them to follow in our footsteps.
